I see Potential here, the other big sites either charge fees that are just silly or you get lost in the crowd, it is up to the seller to generate leads, wether it is in the standard seller world or for auctions, make real deals, the intelligent byuer can see a honest deal when they see it, Im new to this site and I do see some problems with people posting free this or that and a link, after just being here a couple days, most of my auctions have at least 1 bid and several hits, with smaller auction sites it is not just what you post but what you do after the posting, I e-mailed everybody I know to let them know where I'am now, when my site finally goes up, this site will be on my home page, if you drive traffic to this site, and in return have the auction drive traffic back to yours, use tools like this board to find other sellers who are willing to link, with time you will develop a reputation, humans are creatures of habit, like any business it will take time to develop, I have had several business' some worked some cost me big time, but in the long run I cant see myself working for somebody else and putting money in their pockets for a small hourly wage or some low commission rate when I can sell with my rules and my profit margins.

Wvu69, it easy I've set up 3 sites in the last 10 years. Just make a catchy name and  go to these  links

http://www.fg-a.com/hosting.html .

or there are many other as well.

If you do your own html you can get by cheaply. If you want it set up and maintained for you  it will get very costly.

Bandwidth is the key. For what you want, it should be easy.  If you cant write code just get a program that can.
There are many out there that use a graphical interface and you don't need to understand cod, but is is a  big plus if you do know how as it allows you to trouble shoot your own Site and maintain it.

If you need help  there are numerous tutorials on the web., or I could help you find a good site if your serious.

Here is the deal, it all depends on what you want and how good you are with tech, if you just want a site that lists your items but you dont want to sell from the site, you can get started for free, there are plenty of sites such as geocities that will give you space for free, these sites have limitations, if you want a full out store that takes orders, you will need to find a hosting company that gives you the tools you need, Im extremely cheap, lucky for me I have a person with his own server and all my stuff is free anyway and he is designing my site, you can get hosted for as little as 4.95 a month, the big issue is the shopping cart, PayPal can help with that, it is not so much the cost of the site that most people have problems with is the promotion of the site, getting hits to your site, getting listed on the search engines. I tell you what, let me check with my friend and see what he charges for space, registration and fully operational shopping cart, then all you need is an FTP tool( its free and simple to use), I can help with traffic to, I have been up every waking hour to see what is out there, like I said Im cheap so its costs me time, in case anyone is wondering, I have had sites online for years, just never really did anything with them because of my job.  I can show you how to earn10,000 banner imprints on a high traffic area without spending a dime, it will take a couple hours of work though. next time when you are searching in google string in free web hosting, this will get you started on the basics

Some sites take direct draft from your account, but there are no cash payment sites that I know of, in any case here is my friends info, Peachwebhosting.com, the shopping cart is included on the price

Hello - I posted this on another thread - it may pertain - just trying to help, you can transfer money from your bank account into paypal account and use paypal as credit card (only approved for the amount you have in the account)

- For a basic Paypal account, you need to have one or the other - credit card or bank account that you will be paying from or recieving money to - any proper business person will have one or the other, part of doing business, buying and selling - the personal account is free sending and recieving money, BUT you do not get to accept credit cards as payment - the premier account is more for sellers and business persons, you can accept sredit card transactions for payment < BUT you will get charged fees now for the money you recieve, can still send money for free - please see the copy below - I hope this helps all - You also can become verified through paypal which can help ensure your buyers that you are legitimate - Thank you

If this helps and you are interested in a paypal account please use this referral link ( another benifit of paypal, you can get kickbacks for merchant referrals, not necessarily personal account sign-ups)

wvu69  we tried dealing together on two different sites and it didn't work.   What would be the sense of trying again?   Sorry, I'm just not interested in dealing with you.

I'm a new kid to selling online. I really want a site that I too can sell on. I have a basic site, and it's all I can afford at this time. I have checked into every free thing online for opening my own web base store site. My credit is shot from when I was married to a louse, so charging things is not an option, and I have lots of kids, so money is not an issue. I know it takes time to sell, but I am about to give up on this site as well. Seems no one wants anything unless it's from ebay. I have stepped up and I'm listing auctions on 3 diffrent sites right now. Nothing is moving, and the prices are as low as they can be....I can not wait untill spring, so I can get my butt out in the flea market. And please don't take this as whinning, I know there's alot of you reading this and I know you feel me on this issue. I have even thought of including shipping prices in with the merchandise price, and then offering "free shipping" but that would be lying This site has much to offer, all it needs is the traffic. What about banner exchanges? Maybe sellers who don't sell the same merchandise can add banners to some of their auctions, as a way to help each other out. Can't hurt.....Just a thought. Have a good day all.

just a little quick note to ya..... Maybe try out different sites is an option but also try out your own advertising.  There are a lot of freebie sites that you can post on that are from state to state and they allow you to sell and once  you get t hem hooked onto what you have tooffer REFER them here.  Also when you email potential customers put as your signature that you have an auctionfire acct and that if you purchase someting from auctionfire you might throw in a freebie gift to keep their attention span or maybe a note.  A lot of good that has done for me to keep regulars.  Good Luck.
